Discover Top Interior Designer Trends for 2025

Dear Luxury Lover,

Welcome to my 2025 Décor Trend Report!

As a long-time enthusiast of quiet luxury aesthetics and cosy minimalism, I’m thrilled to share with you my curated selection of the latest décor trends that celebrate craftsmanship, quality over quantity, unique artefacts, and sustainable design.

This report is a culmination of research from multiple sources, publications, and expert opinions, distilled into one comprehensive resource for those who value elegant, chic spaces that are also cosy and liveable. I’m excited to share these trends with you and hope they inspire you to create your own sanctuary.

I'm discussing in detail these three main trends:

  1. The influence of Asian Philosophies

  2. Maximalism - contemporary and sleek interiors with a wow effect.

  3. Quiet Luxury Sanctuary - minimalist approach to create a sense of calm, subtle elegance and sophistication.

What is Wabi-sabi?

Wabi-sabi, the Japanese art of impermanence, is a philosophy of finding beauty in every aspect of imperfection in nature. It calls for a change of perspective by finding beauty in the flaws of things and people and by learning to appreciate the imperfect. In wabi-sabi our imperfections make us and our surroundings beautiful - the wear & tear of physical objects, the decay of natural landmarks, the signs of aging on our bodies, natural,  raw forms of materials, unpolished finishes, modest, humble and unconventional elements and irregular textures. This creates a unique aesthetic of simplicity, comfort and authenticity, which very strongly contrasts with the westernized beauty standards and the destructive drive to perfection.

What is Japandi?

Japandi is a fusion of Japanese and Scandinavian minimalist design characterized by calming and welcoming living spaces full of clean lines, natural elements, neutral colors, warmth and brightness. Both Japandi and Wabi-sabi focus on simplicity and natural materials, they differ in their approach to aesthetics and design principles. Wabi-sabi embraces imperfection, and authenticity while Japandi celebrates functionality and minimalism.

Maximalist Minimalism

According to designers, this trend combines the simplicity of minimalism with a dramatic element, creating a visually impactful yet balanced space.  An intriguing blend of clean lines, simplicity and bold expression which can be achieved with oversized wall art or statement pieces that add depth and character to an uncluttered room with minimalist foundations and muted tones. The room serves as a backdrop, and the oversized bold artwork or a unique sculpture create the wow effect. According to designers the secret lies in balance and a thoughtful curation of elements to maximize impact. Maximalist Minimalism seems to provide a perfect harmony between the dynamic expression and simplicity and the maximalist touches can be artwork, vintage vases, a statement rug. Quiet Luxury Sanctuary

Quiet Luxury can manifest in many forms – from sleek, modern spaces to rustic, traditional settings – as long as they share a common thread: an appreciation for the well-crafted, the authentic, and the enduring. Whether you’re drawn to simplicity or character-filled décor, Quiet Luxury invites you to curate your own unique expression of understated luxury.

Quiet Luxury spaces are clean, uncluttered and cohesive

In 2025, designers are opting for uncluttered spaces that feature concealed doors, hidden appliances, and seamless looks. It's all about creating a sense of calm and serenity in a busy world. Colour palette associated with understated elegance and sophistication are muted colours such as greys, beige, whites, cream. These colours remain popular in 2025.

Quiet Luxury spaces are filled with natural materials and dark woods

Quiet luxury celebrates high quality materials which age well. Natural materials such as wood, stone, travertine and marble are timeless. In 2025 we will see these materials across the homes. Dark woods like mahogany are adding sophistication and warmth to spaces this year.

Quiet Luxury spaces celebrate craftsmanship

Personalized items, artisan pieces, and unique handmade artifacts are a cornerstone of quiet luxury. In 2025, designers are prioritizing authentic materials, hand crafted items with meaning over mass-produced items. It's all about making space your own by adding artisan touches and embracing the unique character of each piece and celebrating craftsmanship. Whether it's a hand-painted vase, an intricately carved wooden box or another repurposed artifact, these pieces add depth and character to any space.
